Bill's Vision for Strathcona County

Bill is a visionary leader.  He knows that strong communities are governed by a clear sense of purpose or mission, a bold vision and a set of values that the community gets behind. Over his time on council, Bill has been a vision shaper, helping to guide council toward a strategic plan that is future oriented, focused and purposeful.

Strong and Effective Leadership

Bill believes

  • That Council requires strong leaders who are results oriented
  • That our future a community requires careful stewardship to ensure that we will continue to grow in a responsible way

Fiscal Responsibility

Bill believes

  • That Strathcona County’s future prosperity will be guided by economic growth, business development and regional collaboration
  • That continued economic growth helps to ensure that we will remain one of the lowest taxed communities in the region with the highest level of services
  • That future growth initiatives should focus on tourism, growing our Agricultural Sector in addition to continued growth in our industrial sectors
  • That as our region continues grow, Strathcona County must provide a variety of housing options that meet community needs

Community Safety and Well-Being

Bill believes

  • That Strathcona County has a reputation as one of the safest communities in all of Alberta with the second lowest crime severity index in the province
  • That effective policing in our community comes from the exceptional relationship between the RCMP and Enforcement Services as they provide policing in both rural and urban areas
  • That community based policing is critical to ensuring that our streets are safe
  • That establishing a Cyber Crime unit within the RCMP is essential to keeping our seniors and the public safe in an ever changing world of cyber crime
  • That community safety depends on ensuring our FireFighters and Paramedics have the infrastructure they require to do their jobs effectively
  • That building a new Fire Hall in Cambrian and committing to hire 50 additional FireFighters is key to ensuring safety as our community grows

Building Strong and Vibrant Communities

Bill believes

  • That strong and vibrant communities are places where people choose to live because they have cultural spaces and recreational facilities that allow them to remain active and enjoy quality of life
  • That Council’s role is to provide leadership in building new facilities and maintaining existing ones
