About Bill

Bill was first elected to Council in October 2017 bringing his dedication for community, experience in education and leadership, and commitment to public service to the role.  Having lived in Strathcona County for 22 years, Bill has watched this community grow and thrive over the past number of years.

Experience you can Count On

Prior to his election in 2017, Bill spent 33 years as a Teacher and Principal working in various communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta including Prince Albert, Nipawin, Lloydminster, Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park. Bill’s passion for politics comes from an extensive career as an educational leader. Having served as principal in various schools, Bill could often be found taking on leadership roles with the local teacher’s association and was engaged in negotiating collective agreements in three separate communities. In 2014, he changed direction once again, became a Senior Manager with Alberta Education where he supported Alberta’s Accredited International Schools around the globe.

Importance of Family

Bill and his wife Marla, have lived in Sherwood Park since 2003. Together they raised four children and now delight in watching their four grandchildren as they grow.  Anyone who knows Bill will tell you that family comes first. As a parent, Bill could often be found coaching various teams, supporting the arts as his children excelled in music and drama, or helping his children establish their own homes and families.

Education Matters

As a young father, Bill decided to return to University once again, completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration which lead to a successful career as a school leader.  In 2004 he returned to University once again to complete a Master’s Degree in Educational Leaders, where his thesis focused on the Attributes of Servant Leaders.
